Buttermilk Biscuits
Makes 12 to 15 Biscuits
| 2 cups |
Flour |
| 1 Tbsp. |
Baking powder |
| 1 Tsp. |
Salt |
| 2 Tsp. |
Sugar |
| 1/3 cup |
Butter (or Shortening) |
| 1 cup |
Buttermilk, or 4 tablespoons Saco Cultured Buttermilk with 2/3 cup water |
Preheat oven to 450º.
Sift the dry ingredients together into a mixing bowl. Cut in butter until the mixture looks like small crumbs.
Add the buttermilk and stir until dough forms a ball. Place ball on a floured surface and flatten to 1/2 inch.
Cut out biscuits and place 1/4 inch apart on cookie sheet. Bake until golden brown (8-10 minutes).
